Introduction

This policy explains how tcstrack.com handles information when you use the website. We have written it to describe what actually happens rather than to cover every possibility, and we have flagged the parts that need updating once the final setup is in place.

TCS Track is an independent website and is not operated by TCS. If you are looking for how TCS handles your personal information as a courier customer, that is covered by TCS’s own privacy policy, not this one.

Information we may collect

The website does not have user accounts, does not sell anything, and does not process payments. There is no registration, no login and no newsletter signup, so we do not ask you for a name, a postal address, a phone number or payment details.

What may be involved is limited to:

  • the tracking information you type into the tracking tool
  • standard technical information generated automatically when any website is visited
  • anything you choose to include when you email us

Each of these is covered below.

Tracking information you enter

When you enter a consignment number, we may process that number in order to provide the tracking functionality you asked for. That is the purpose it is used for.

A consignment number is not usually personal information on its own, but a tracking result can contain details such as an origin, a destination and the name of the person who signed for a parcel. Please only look up shipments you have a legitimate reason to look up.

Technical information collected automatically

Like most websites, visiting tcstrack.com involves your browser sending standard technical information to the server that delivers the page. That typically includes an IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the time of the request.

Web servers and hosting providers commonly record some of this in access logs for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser. They fall into a few categories:

  • Essential cookies keep the site working, for example by remembering a preference you set or supporting basic security. These cannot be switched off without breaking functionality.
  • Analytics cookies, if enabled, help us understand how the site is used in aggregate, such as which guides people read.
  • Preference cookies, if enabled, remember choices you make so the site behaves consistently on your next visit.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site behave.

How information is used

Information is used to:

  • provide the tracking lookup you requested
  • operate, maintain and secure the website
  • diagnose technical problems
  • understand in aggregate which content is useful, so we can improve it
  • respond to you if you email us

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Analytics

We may use an analytics service to understand how the website is used in aggregate: which pages are visited, how people arrive, and which guides answer the question they came with. Analytics of this kind is about patterns across visitors, not about identifying individuals.

Where an analytics provider is used, it will act as a third party processing some technical information on our behalf, under its own privacy terms.

Third-party services

Running a website involves third parties, typically a hosting provider, and potentially a CDN, a security service, or an analytics provider. These parties may process technical information such as IP addresses in order to deliver and protect the site.

The website also links to external sites, including the official TCS website. Once you follow a link away from tcstrack.com, the other site’s privacy policy applies instead of this one.

Data retention

Information is kept only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as required by law. Server access logs are typically kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting, then discarded. Emails you send us are kept while they are relevant to your query.

Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect the website and any information handled through it, including serving the site over an encrypted connection.

No website can promise perfect security. We would rather say that plainly than claim a guarantee nobody can make.

Children’s privacy

This website is a general-purpose courier tracking tool. It is not directed at young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, contact us at admin@tcstrack.com and we will remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal information relating to you, including the right to ask what is held, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to certain processing.

Because this site has no accounts and asks for no personal details, there is usually very little held about any individual visitor. If you would like to make a request, email admin@tcstrack.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Changes to this privacy policy

We will update this policy when the website changes, for example if analytics is added or the tracking tool starts storing something it does not store today. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.

Where a change materially affects how information is handled, we will make that clear rather than quietly editing the text.

Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent to admin@tcstrack.com.

For questions about how TCS handles your information as a courier customer, contact TCS directly. We have no access to their systems or their records.
