What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser when you visit it. It lets the site remember something between page loads or between visits — a preference you set, whether you’re logged in somewhere, or simply that your browser has been here before.

Cookies aren’t the only technology that does this. Similar things — local storage, pixels, tracking scripts — get lumped in with “cookies” in everyday conversation, and we’ve done the same here for simplicity.

Cookies this site uses

tcstrack.com has no accounts, no logins and no shopping cart, so there’s less going on here than on a typical website. The tracking tool itself works without needing a cookie to remember who you are — you type in a consignment number and get a result back.

That said, a few categories of cookies may be set depending on how the site is configured:

• Essential cookies support basic functions like security and keeping pages loading correctly. Without them, some parts of the site may not work as intended. They don’t track you across other websites.
• Analytics cookies, if enabled, may help us understand things like which pages get visited and roughly how many people are checking their tracking each day. This is aggregate information — it tells us about patterns across visitors, not about any one person.
• Preference cookies, if enabled, remember a setting you choose so the site behaves consistently on your next visit.

Third-party cookies

Where a third-party service is embedded on this site — an analytics tool, for instance — that provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy terms. We don’t control those cookies directly, and the provider’s own policy governs how it uses the information it collects.

Blocking cookies entirely may stop parts of this or any other website from working the way they’re supposed to. Since this site doesn’t rely on cookies for its core tracking function, blocking them here shouldn’t affect your ability to look up a shipment.

Where non-essential cookies are used — analytics or preference cookies, for example — and where the law where you’re located requires it, we’ll ask for your consent before they’re set, and give you a way to withdraw that consent later.

We’ll update this page if the cookies this site uses change — for example, if analytics is added, removed, or swapped for a different provider. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
