TCS vs Rider: Two Couriers Built for Different Jobs
TCS is a full-service courier with Express Centres across Pakistan, open to anyone with a parcel or a document. Rider is an e-commerce delivery company that works for online sellers. For a buyer the courier was chosen by the shop. For a seller the comparison comes down to coverage, cash flow and returns.

Quick answer: use TCS when you need to send something yourself, send documents, reach smaller towns, or ship abroad. Rider is only an option if you run an online business: it delivers orders from merchants to their customers and says it pays merchants quickly, in some cases at pickup. Buyers do not choose between them, and a Rider tracking number will not work on TCS tracking or on this site.
TCS and Rider side by side
| What you are comparing | TCS | Rider |
|---|---|---|
| Who it serves | Individuals and businesses. Anyone can walk into an Express Centre and book. | Online sellers. Its website is built around merchant sign-up, and we found no counter or booking option for individuals. |
| Started | 1983, Karachi | 2019, Karachi. TPL described Rider at launch as the first product in its TPL Logistics suite. |
| Network | TCS says it has over 1,000 Express Centres and more than 2,500 locations across Pakistan. | 60 cities served through 16 hubs, as reported in June 2022. Its website does not publish a current figure. |
| What it carries | Documents and parcels, same-day, overnight and economy services, heavy cargo, international shipping, COD. | Last-mile delivery of e-commerce orders, with cash collection. Rider says it offers after-hours pickups for next-morning delivery. |
| COD payouts to sellers | Settled to the seller’s bank account on the cycle in the account agreement. | Rider says merchants can be paid when the parcel is picked up, with instant or 24-hour cash reconciliation. |
| Tracking | Consignment number on TCS’s site, the helpline, or this site’s tracking box. | Rider’s own merchant portal, customer app and tracking portal. |
| Changing a delivery | Address changes go through the sender. | Rider says its customer app lets buyers change the delivery location, date and time. |
| International | Yes, outbound and inbound. | No international service listed on its website. |

If you are waiting on a parcel
You cannot pick the courier for an online order. The shop does, and it may use more than one depending on your city. So the first job is finding out which one has your parcel.
- Check the shipping SMS, email or order page. It normally names the courier alongside the tracking number.
- If it says Rider, track it on Rider’s portal or app. Entering that number here will return nothing, because this site reads TCS consignment numbers only.
- If it says TCS, use the tracking box and the status guide.
- If it names neither, ask the shop. A tracking number with no courier attached is the usual reason a search finds nothing.
One practical difference for buyers: Rider says its app lets you move the delivery to another time or place yourself. With TCS, a change of address has to come from the sender, so message the shop rather than the courier.
If you are choosing a courier for your shop
The headline rate matters less than four things that decide what a courier actually costs a COD business.
Where your customers are
TCS reaches smaller towns through its counter network. Rider’s published coverage has been built around high-volume e-commerce zones in cities. Pull a list of your last 100 orders by city before you talk to either.
How fast the cash comes back
For a small seller, working capital often matters more than the per-parcel rate. Rider leads with fast payouts. TCS settles on the cycle written into your account, so ask for that cycle in writing.
What a returned parcel costs
With TCS, the shipper pays for a parcel that comes back undelivered. Ask Rider the same question, and ask both for the charge on your main routes, because your refusal rate multiplies it.
How parcels get to the courier
TCS lets you drop parcels at any Express Centre as well as booking pickups. Rider works on pickups from the merchant. If you ship irregularly or from home, that affects your day more than it sounds.
You do not have to choose only one. Some sellers split orders by destination. A small trial answers most of the question: send a few weeks of orders to your usual cities with each, then compare first-attempt delivery, refusals and how quickly the money arrived.
What we could not verify
Neither company publishes a full rate card for COD sellers on the pages we checked. Rates are quoted per account, so any per-parcel figure you see online for either one is somebody’s quote from a particular day.
Rider’s current city count is not on its website. The 60-city figure dates from 2022, and in 2023 Rider announced plans to buy BlueEx’s e-commerce business to reach a target of 700 delivery locations. We did not find confirmation of the final coverage, so ask Rider directly whether it delivers to your customers’ cities.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rider better than TCS?
They do different jobs. TCS serves anyone, including individuals, documents and international shipments. Rider serves online sellers delivering orders to customers, and competes mainly on fast payouts and buyer control over delivery. Which suits a shop depends on where its customers are and how much its cash flow matters.
Can I send a parcel with Rider as an individual?
Rider’s website is built around merchant sign-up, and we found no walk-in or individual booking option. For a one-off parcel, a courier with counters, such as TCS, is the practical choice.
Can I track a Rider parcel on TCS Track?
No. This site reads TCS consignment numbers only. Use Rider’s own tracking portal or app.
Does Rider deliver internationally?
Its website lists no international service. TCS offers both outbound and inbound international shipping.
Which is faster, TCS or Rider?
Neither publishes guaranteed route-by-route times we could verify. TCS describes Overnight Express as next-day delivery covering 90% of destinations on its network. Rider pitches next-day delivery to sellers. For your own routes, a short trial with both is the only reliable answer.
