TCS Services Explained: What Each One Is For

TCS Services Explained: What Each One Is For

TCS sells a lot more than overnight parcels. This page lists the services TCS itself describes, grouped by what you are trying to do, with the limits worth knowing before you get to the counter.

On this page
  1. Sending within Pakistan
  2. Flyers and boxes
  3. For sellers and businesses
  4. Sending abroad
  5. Document services
  6. Other counter services
  7. Which service to pick
  8. Frequently asked questions

Quick answer: the core TCS courier services are Overnight Express (next day), Same Day Delivery (within the city, in 11 main cities), Economy Express (a cheaper overland service for heavier parcels) and Time Choice (delivery at a date and time the customer picks). Around those sit packaging products like the Express Flyer and RedBox, cash on delivery for online sellers, international shipping, and counter services that have nothing to do with parcels, such as document attestation and bill payment. Every shipment, whichever service it uses, tracks on its consignment number.

Sending a parcel within Pakistan

These are the services you choose between at the counter for a domestic shipment. The descriptions are TCS’s own, paraphrased from its service pages.

ServiceWhat TCS says it doesWorth knowing
Overnight ExpressNext-day delivery covering 90% of destinations on the TCS network, delivered in daylight. The default for documents and ordinary parcels. You can drop it at an Express Centre or call for a pickup.
Same Day DeliveryDelivery within the same city, in selected areas. Available in 11 main cities, with the Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad regions fully covered.Only selected areas qualify, so ask whether the destination address is covered before you pay.
Economy ExpressAn overland, second-day service. TCS says over 80% of these shipments arrive within half the committed time.Sold in branded boxes of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 kg but usable for any weight up to 999 kg. Anything over 30 kg goes in your own packing. It cannot be combined with Time Choice.
Time ChoiceThe customer picks the date and time of delivery. TCS says deliveries usually land within a one-hour threshold, no later than 30 minutes after the chosen time.An option added to a shipment, not a separate route. The times on offer depend on the destination.
Overland ExpressBulk cargo to around 200 cities with a transit time of 36–72 hours.Aimed at corporate customers moving heavy consignments, such as pharmaceutical or printing companies.

Flyers, boxes and secure document options

Some TCS products are really packaging with a service attached. They decide what your shipment goes in, while the service decides how fast it moves.

Express Flyer

TCS calls this its most popular service. It is a sealed, waterproof, tear-resistant bag that cannot be opened and resealed without showing it was tampered with. It is used together with a delivery service such as Overnight Express.

RedBox

Fixed-size boxes for parcels of 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 kg, for non-perishable items including fragile ones. TCS offers it to major domestic destinations and to selected international ones. Because the sizes are fixed, you can ask the price of a box before you pack.

Mehfooz Express

An overnight document delivery service that TCS positions as a more secure option for documents. If you are sending originals that would be hard to replace, ask about it at the counter.

Services for online sellers and businesses

This is where TCS and a walk-in customer part ways. The services below run on an account, not a single counter booking.

  • Cash on delivery. The rider collects the order amount at the door and TCS pays it to the seller on the account’s settlement cycle. How that works for both sides is in the TCS COD guide.
  • Retail-COD (R-COD). TCS’s COD product for small businesses, home-based sellers, retailers and startups that do not want bulk commitments. TCS says the account can be opened at any Express Centre, with no subscription and no minimum number of shipments. It runs time-limited discounts on R-COD, so ask for the current tariff rather than relying on an old figure.
  • Envio. TCS’s online tool for e-commerce accounts. TCS lists booking and tracking many shipments at once, location-wise cost centres, multiple pickup and delivery options, logging complaints and arranging return logistics.
  • Warehousing and distribution. Storage, order handling and distribution for manufacturers and retailers, run on a cloud-based warehouse management system, according to TCS.
  • Overland Express. The bulk cargo service in the table above, for companies moving heavy stock between cities.

Sending a parcel or document abroad

TCS describes its international network as built on gateways in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, a regional hub in the UAE, and partnerships with other logistics companies. The options a walk-in customer is most likely to meet:

  • International Express for documents and parcels to overseas addresses.
  • RedBox International, the same fixed box sizes as the domestic RedBox, to selected international destinations.
  • Students Express for academic documents such as transcripts and letters sent to institutions abroad, which TCS offers at a flat rate.

For parcels coming the other way, TCS operates offices abroad, including in the UAE and the UK, where family members can book a shipment to Pakistan. How these shipments show up in tracking, and where customs fits in, is covered in TCS international tracking.

Document and paperwork services

A large share of TCS counter traffic is paperwork rather than parcels.

  • Attestation services. TCS handles attestation with education boards, vocational bodies, the HEC, local and international universities, and bodies that issue identity, family, financial, trade and medical documents, as well as travel documents for Pakistanis abroad.
  • Visatronix. A visa dropbox and facilitation service operating from 11 major cities. TCS says it handles over 100,000 visa applications a year. The embassies it serves change, so check TCS’s current list for your destination before you go.
  • US passport renewal. US citizens in Pakistan can hand their passport in at an Express Centre, or arrange a pickup, and TCS submits it to the nearest US embassy on their behalf.

Other services at an Express Centre

TCS says it has more than 1,000 Express Centres and over 2,500 locations across the country, and several non-courier services run through them.

  • Branchless banking. Paying utility bills, taxes, challans and fines, mobile top-ups, most internet providers, several digital wallets and the Sindh Revenue Board. TCS lists it as a cash-only service.
  • Ticket sales for events such as cricket tournaments, concerts and exhibitions.
  • TCS Sentiments Express, a gifting service running since 1989 that delivers flowers, cakes, mithai, fruit baskets and hampers within Pakistan and to countries including the UK, USA, UAE and Germany.
  • Studio by TCS, which delivers clothing from Pakistani designers.

Which service to pick

A few common situations, and the service TCS’s own descriptions point to:

  • A signed contract that has to reach an office in another city tomorrow: Overnight Express, usually in an Express Flyer.
  • Something urgent across Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad today: Same Day Delivery, once the counter confirms the destination area is covered.
  • 18 kg of household items going to another city, not urgent: Economy Express. Above 30 kg, bring your own sturdy packing.
  • A recipient who is only home at certain hours: add Time Choice to the shipment. It will not work with Economy Express.
  • An Instagram shop sending a few dozen orders a week: a Retail-COD account.
  • A degree transcript going to a university abroad: Students Express.

The TCS service pages we checked do not list rates, so ask for a quote at the counter or on the helpline, +92 21 111 123 456, before you commit. Charges depend on weight, the service and the route.
